Eligibility Criteria 

-Have at least three unrelated members of the management committee/ Directors, or Trustees.

-Be either a registered charity, charitable company/CIC that is limited by Guarantee or a constituted community organisation. 

-If you are a national organisation you will need to have a permanent local presence or branch in Merseyside that delivers projects and services for people in the area. There should be a local management team and evidence of income and expenditure for Merseyside activity, rather than national accounts.

For Groups

Alfred Shaw Trust Fund

The Alfred Shaw Trust Fund was established in memory of Alfred Shaw and has been created following the transfer of the trust fund to the Community Foundations. The fund supports projects for young people and vulnerable and elderly adults in the Runcorn (WA7) area.  

Beechwood, Ballantyne and Bidston Big Local Young Person’s Ideas Fund

Big Local Young Person’s Ideas Fund has been developed for children and young people that live in Beechwood, Ballantyne or Bidston Village Big Local area to apply for funding up to £500 for a project of their choice.

John Goore

The John Goore Fund has been set up to provide support to local residents of Lydiate. Grants are avalible for up to £1,000

WO Street Transformation Fund

Grants are available up to £2,000 to support education and tackle poverty particularly for children and young people who are unable to meet their educational or living costs or projects for vulnerable older people who cannot afford medical or convalescent care.

The ACC Liverpool Group Foundation

Grants up to £1,000 are available. The fund wishes to encourage local community groups and voluntary organisations to apply for grants for projects aimed at supporting and targeting key community groups and diverse communities including LGBTQ+, BAME and hard to reach groups.

Merseyside Police Community Cashback Fund

Merseyside Police has launched its Community Cashback Fund and is inviting community groups across Merseyside to apply for up to £5,000 funding in order to further develop existing projects or to start new ones. The fund utilises the money and assets seized from criminals through the Proceeds of Crime Act and reinvests it back into communities to help provide vital resources and fund community projects across Merseyside.

Football For Change

The fund can consider a wide range of community projects from charitable organisations based within Merseyside or Greater Manchester. Football For Change is investing in young people who face social and economic barriers when trying to reach their full potential. These are young people who’ve faced poverty and those who have experienced tough starts in life.  The fund will close at 4pm on Friday 23rd February

Liverpool ONE Foundation - Greener Futures Fund

The Greener Futures Fund is a new fund created by Grosvenor, Liverpool ONE and the Community Foundation for Merseyside. The aim of the Greener Futures Fund is to empower Young people in their communities to take local action on climate change.

CFLM Cost of Living Support Fund

The current cost of living crisis has already had a widespread and detrimental effect to communities across the UK. In order to address this, an emergency fund has been launched by The Community Foundations for Lancashire and Merseyside (CFLM) which aims to support communities struggling with the cost of living. The fund is currently being supported by the UKCF ‘Communities in Crisis Appeal’ and the FredMill Charitable Trust.

Blue Sky Foundation

Grants of up to £5000 are avalible to support children and young people with their emotional wellbeing and those suffering with or at severe risk of mental health difficulties.

The LF Foundation

The fund will support a wide range of charitable projects in St Helens and close surrounding area that support families in hardship or children’s educational development where financial hardship is a barrier. Grants of up to £5,000 are available. The closing date is the 1st of March at 4pm.

Merseyside Violence Reduction Partnership – Arts | Culture | Sports Fund

Grants avalible from £5,000 (min.) to £15,000 (max.). Funding will support organisations working with young people and delivering arts, culture and/or sports activities. Funding must be spent by the 31st March 2024. Closing date 02/10/23 at 4pm.

Huyton with Roby Trust

The Huyton with Roby Trust aims to improve the lives of people with disabilities in Knowsley. It wishes to fund projects delivered by charities, community groups and social enterprises that offer sporting opportunities to improve skills and help beneficiaries to become more active. Grants up to £1,000.

Mark McQueen Foundation

The Mark McQueen Foundation was set up by the McQueen Family in memory of their loving son who tragically died. The aim of the fund is to support a wide range of community projects looking to support young men across Merseyside who are suffering from mental health and emotional issues.

23 Foundation

The 23 Foundation funds projects that support disadvantaged children and young people and also wishes to fund groups that are directly working with people who are experiencing homelessness and facing real poverty. The closing date is Tuesday 30th January 2024.

Merseyside Community Investment Fund

The fund aims to support projects that may struggle to access funding from other sources.  As funding for this programme is unrestricted grants awarded from this fund can be used to respond to local issues of concern to the community or pro-actively tackle an urgent social need.

High Sheriff and Merseyside Police Charitable Fund

The High Sheriff and Merseyside Police Fund is now open. The fund aims to promote a safer and increased quality of life through the prevention of crime and the protection of people and property from harm or fear of harm, and from criminal acts for the benefit of the public. The fund also seeks to support and raise awareness to help communities be and feel safe, as well as creating long-term impact in preventing and reducing young people’s vulnerability to crime.

Youth Diversion Fund

Grants of up to £3,000 are available to support diversionary projects for children and young people taking place specifically over Mischief Night, Halloween and Bonfire Night.

Liverpool ONE Foundation

The Community Foundation for Merseyside is pleased to announce the launch of the next round of the Liverpool ONE Foundation's Children and Young People’s Mental Health and Well-being funding programme. Grants of up to £15,000 per year for 2 years (£30,000 total) to support core service/project delivery with proven track record and outcomes. Women's Fund

The Fund ​aims​ ​to​ ​support​ ​women​ ​who​ ​are​ ​most​ ​marginalised​ ​to​ ​overcome​ ​barriers that​ ​prevent​ ​them​ ​from​ ​fulfilling​ ​their​ ​potential. ​ The​ ​programme will benefit women and girls, investing in a wide variety of projects, that make a tangible and long-term difference to health, well-being, confidence and social/economic activity, as well as addressing equality gaps. FPC Foundation

Grants of up to £2500 are available. As a result of the COVID pandemic and cost of living crisis, and the impact this has had on our mental health, the FPC Foundation wishes to support projects that improve our mental wellbeing and help people to recover.

Halton Foundation

The Halton Foundation aims to support people across the borough of Halton who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress.  The fund will support voluntary and community groups that are working in the Halton area on a wide range of charitable projects.

Breathe Better Air Community Fund

Grants aimed at tackling Air Pollution or to grow visibility of groups affected by Air Pollution. Their aim is to promote air quality data, build public demand for clean air and drive policy change. Maximum grants of £5,000 available.

The Momentum Foundation

The Momentum Foundation is designed to principally benefit the communities located in the Liverpool City Region. For 2023, The Momentum Foundation will provide funding to support ecological improvements to community buildings. Grants of up to £3000 are availible

Evelyn Partners Merseyside Charitable Fund

The aim of the fund is to make a significant, positive impact on young people’s lives by supporting educational initiatives, as well as health and wellbeing and employability projects in the local community. Grants are available up to £5,000.

Hill Dickinson Foundation Tower Hamlets

The Hill Dickinson Foundation aims to support projects working in the Tower Hamlets area of London that address Homelessness, mental health and employability (access to work). The closing date is 5pm on Monday 11th December 2023.

Knights House Fund

The Knights House Fund aims to support people in Widnes who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress. The fund will support both voluntary and community groups working in the area and will also consider applications from individuals in need of additional help and support.

Peel Ports Mersey Fund

Funding for this programme has been provided by Peel Ports.  Projects should support disadvantaged people living in the Port's operation areas of Bootle, South Sefton, Birkenhead and Runcorn. Closing date is Monday 14 June 2021.

BHP Billiton Endowment Fund

The fund aims to support projects that improve the local physical environment and also benefit the wider community and improve people's lives. Grants of up to £2000 are available.

The Ann and Ray Messer Foundation

Grants to support community projects working with children and young people that include promoting positive mental health and wellbeing.  Grants will also support projects working with the elderly to reduce isolation and improve health. Grants up to £2,000 available to organisations with an income of less than £150k.

Hill Dickinson Foundation Merseyside

The Hill Dickinson Foundation aims to support projects in Merseyside that tackle the issues of homelessness, mental health and employability (access to work). Maximum grant available is £2.5k. The closing date is 5pm on Monday 14th November 2022.

LCR Cares – Digital Inclusion Fund

Grants of up to £6000 are avalible to support community and voluntary organisations who are able to provide digital support and skills development for local residents who face additional social and economic barriers. The aim of the fund is to provide grants that either support practical digital skills engagement or capacity building for staff/volunteers to support provision.

Alfred Shaw Trust Fund - Individuals

The Alfred Shaw Trust Fund was established in memory of Alfred Shaw and has been created following the transfer of the trust fund to the Community Foundations. The fund supports young people (aged up to 25) residing in the Runcorn (WA7) area.

Halton Foundation - Individuals

The Halton Foundation Fund aims to support individuals across the Halton Borough who are in need of additional help and support, particularly those who have been adversely affected by the COVID pandemic. 

Olivia Rae Foundation

The Olivia Rae Foundation has been established by the family of Olivia Rae Clee-Barnett from Wirral, in loving memory of their daughter. The Foundation aims to support local young people aged 11-24 to realise and grow their potential by engaging in arts-based opportunities and activities. Individuals can apply for up to £500.  

Joseph Harley Bequest Fund

The Joseph Harley Bequest Fund supports young people to undertake projects or activities, where assistance from public bodies is not usually available. Applications for funding assistance will be considered for advancement of education and training of individuals, under the age of 25 who are residents of Formby.

John Goore

The John Goore Fund has been set up to provide support to local residents of Lydiate. Grants up to £1,000.

Sefton Education & Learning Fund

The Sefton Education and Learning Fund is available to advance the education of young people aged 25 or under, living in Sefton, and to benefit those groups or charities who provide an educational service or facility in the area.

23 Foundation for Individuals

Founded by Liverpool FC’s number 23 - Jamie Carragher, the 23 Foundation seeks to provide the youth of Merseyside with the means to make a difference in society. Funding up to £1,000 available. The closing date is Tuesday 30th January 2024
