Dr Jackie Bene
Dear Reader,

Welcome to this latest edition of Connect!

Since our last edition, I’m delighted to tell you that here in Cheshire and Merseyside, we have passed a significant milestone with more than 2,000,000 vaccines administered across our patch. It’s a brilliant achievement and means that over 51% of our adult population has now had at least one dose. Well done and thank you to everyone who has contributed to this success. Everyone over 40 is now eligible so please accept this invitation (if you haven’t already) and join the millions of people already vaccinated. It’s safe, effective and the best way of protecting yourself and your loved ones from Covid.

I want to take this opportunity to highlight that 5th May was International Day of the Midwife, and next week, 12th May is International Nurses Day and give a special thanks, on behalf of the Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership to all our wonderful midwives and nurses. This has been a particularly difficult year, but you are doing a fantastic job.

Next week is also ‘Dying Matters Week’ and you can read more about how we are raising awareness of this and asking you to ‘Tell three people’ later in Connect.

We are also reporting on progress with the vaccination programme, Covid testing and the establishment of a new Cheshire and Merseyside Primary Care Leaders Forum.

Please do continue to send us any articles you’d like us to include in Connect, and, enjoy!

Best wishes,
