The United Nations has warned we only have 9 years left to prevent irreversible damage caused by climate change. Here at SPEN we are striving to do all we can to facilitate a clean and safe net zero future.
Right now we are developing our future investments plan for our electricity distribution business for 2023 – 2028. These plans will set out he we will accommodate the electrification of key sectors such as heat and transport as well as maintain security of supply to households and businesses across GB.
As part of this plan we are proposing to take specific actions and make targeted investments to benefit our customers, stakeholders and communities at a time when urgent technological investment and behavioural change is needed. In our role as a distribution network operator (DNO) we believe we are well placed to strategically and cost-effectively support the growth of the community energy sector and local energy solutions that will be essential for Britain to meet our legally-binding net zero targets.
We are reaching out to you today in partnership with Community Energy Scotland, Community Energy Wales and Community Energy England to collect feedback on our Community Energy plans for RIIO-ED2.
