Another incredible engineering achievement completed!
Watch here as Balfour Beatty’s 5,000-tonne intake head is lowered onto the seabed of the Bristol Channel - which has the 2nd highest tidal range in the world. The structure is the second of four “intake” heads being connected to 5 miles of tunnels, which will supply Hinkley Point C’s two nuclear reactors with cooling water. The two “outfall” heads have already been lowered into position.

After more than 46 years of generating low carbon electricity for the UK, Hinkley Point B station has stopped generating power. The station has helped the UK avoid the emissions of more than 107 million tonnes of carbon dioxide.
From the community spirit of those who work there to the amount of energy supplied to the UK, there is so much to celebrate and be proud of. Watch here as employees talk about what has made the nuclear power station so special.

Bringing rural communities together
|

|
St Peter’s Church, in Stolford, has undergone a major refurbishment after being awarded over £37,000 from the HPC Community Fund. Stogursey Parochial Church Council was awarded the grant to help improve the facilities of the building to enable it to become the Stolford & Wick Community Hub, providing a much-needed resource for the two rural communities which until recently had no space where the community could come together. Pro mental health video goes viral
|
|
|
Jamie Busby, Scaffolder and GMB Union Rep at Hinkley Point C, made headlines in June by speaking out against a Daily Mail article that mocked construction workers who spoke about their feelings and prioritised their mental health.
Jamie’s video response to the article titled ‘UK’s builders go woke’ has since gone viral, with more than five million views across social media channels. You can watch the video here
