Employers! Promote your vacancies at the Amber Valley Jobs Fair

Amber Valley Borough Council is working in partnership with the Job Centre, Department for Work and Pensions to host a jobs fair this June at Ripley Leisure Centre.

This is an opportunity to promote your business and vacancies to a wide audience of people looking for employment or a possible career change.

The networking group is for businesses based in the Amber Valley area of Derbyshire. Breakfast or lunch is served depending on the time of the meeting, followed by a one-minute round where all attendees will have the opportunity to tell the room all about their business in no more than 60 seconds.

Meetings will have a speaker who may be someone outside of the group talking about a topic relevant to business or a talk from one of the regular attendees. The remainder of the meeting time is taken up with more opening networking.
Start Up Loans scheme widened to businesses trading for up to three years

  • Start Up Loans of up to £25,000 now available to start-ups that have been trading for up to 3 years, up from 2 years
  • New ‘second loans’ available for businesses that have been trading for up to 5 years
  • Loans to provide much-needed support for the UK’s innovators and entrepreneurs
The Government-backed Start Up Loans programme has been expanded. The programme now includes start-ups that have been trading for up to 3 years and second Start Up Loans are now available to eligible businesses that have been trading for up to 5 years.

The programme previously provided finance for start-ups which had only been trading for up to 2 years, offers personal loans for business purposes of up to £25,000 at a 6% fixed interest rate per annum. It also offers free support and guidance to help write business plans, and successful applicants get up to 12 months of free mentoring.

Energy Bill Relief Scheme: help for businesses

The scheme will start on 1 October 2022 and end on 31 March 2023. It gives discounted gas and electricity unit prices for those on non-domestic contracts, including:
  • Businesses
  • voluntary sector organisations like charities
  • public sector organisations like schools, hospitals, and care homes
Your business should be:
  • on a fixed price contract, agreed on or after 1 April 2022
  • signing a new fixed price contract
  • on deemed/out of contract or variable tariffs
  • on flexible purchase or similar contracts
If none of these apply to your business, you may not be eligible.

The discounts will be applied automatically to your bills, and you don’t need to do anything. You should start seeing the discount from November 2022, as this is when you’ll be billed for energy used in October.

The Future High Street Fund is making exciting progress!
Grammar School
The design for the Marketplace is due to be finalised and this week we’ve held public engagement events to update with the progress of the former Grammar School. We’ve also opened an Expressions of Interest opportunity for businesses, this is to gage who would like to use the building when it’s completed in 2024/2025.

Charity Excellence - Major Crisis Support Programme for Charities Launched

Charity Excellence have launched a number of toolkits to support charities and trustees in response to the economic climate. The toolkits are free to access and cover a wide range of polices, guides and checklists. The Crisis Toolbox and energy cost saving toolkit are some of the resources available.

D2N2 host a range of online workshops for SMEs covering a range of business support topics from financial tips to marketing strategies. Workshops are FREE with priority given to businesses in the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire regions.
