An overview of our consultation so far
Having your say
The public consultation on our proposal for changing the way we deliver some more complex medical, urgent and emergency care and paediatric services at our hospitals in Scunthorpe and Grimsby began on 25th September, which seems like quite a long way off now.

The consultation period was designed to last for just over 14 weeks, to give as many of our residents and staff the opportunity to listen to the case for change and make their views known in a number of ways.

The consultation ends on 5th January 2024, so we thought this a good time to let you know what have been doing over the last 12 weeks to publicise the consultation and more importantly, listen to our communities.
Where we have been and what we have done
Information
We have produced a wide range of information about the proposed changes to help people to find out more and give their views:
We have shared this information via social media, on our website, in local newsletters, noticeboards and around our communities. We have also shared the information with local media, including radio, television and newspapers, and featured in more than 30 stories.
Exhibitions and Community Roadshows
In addition to publicising information to help explain what we are proposing and why, we also arranged a series of public exhibition events and roadshows around our communities.

In total we held six exhibitions in Scunthorpe, Grimsby, Goole and Gainsborough.

We also took the consultation out to our communities and hosted a total of 19 different community roadshows. We have reached out to a range of locations across the region, including:
  • Ashby
  • Crosby
  • Frodingham
  • Burringham Road
  • Central Scunthorpe
  • Goole
  • Old Goole
  • Grimsby
  • East Marsh
  • Nunsthorpe
  • Immingham
  • Crowle
  • Epworth
  • Barton
  • Brigg
  • Louth
  • Scotter
We also held drop-in sessions for patients and staff at our hospital sites in Scunthorpe, Grimsby and Goole.
Targeted engagement
To ensure we were hearing from a wide range of different communities, we also held targeted engagement sessions to ensure we heard from a wide range of groups and communities who might not otherwise take part in the consultation. This included:
  • Carers
  • Parent/carers
  • Veterans and armed forces communities
  • Older people
  • Women from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds
  • Men
  • Families from deprived communities
  • Disabled people
  • People with learning disabilities
  • People affected by homelessness
  • People affected by substance misuse
  • People from LGBT+ communities
  • Children and young people
Online discussion events
We also offered online opportunities for people who wanted to take part online, including:
  • An online event for the public
  • Two Question and Answer sessions for staff
  • An online workshop for representatives from our local voluntary sector
Consultation Questionnaire
There is still time to complete our online questionnaire
As well as all the engagement and outreach events, we are also gathering information through our online questionnaire. We have received several thousand responses already and wish to thank everyone who has taken the time to complete the online consultation questionnaire. There is still time for you to complete the questionnaire and send your feedback before the consultation window closes on 5th January 2024.
