Welcome to your October stakeholder update |
Dear Stakeholders,
As we head into the colder and darker days with autumn in full swing and the clocks changing, it’s good to keep in mind staying safe in the winter months, especially when out on the roads. November will be Road Safety month, and we can all stay safe by remembering to slow down, take our time, and stay prepared for changing conditions. |
| |
November also sees us move into our winter working rules for planned supply interruptions, which are in place to support our customers and their changing needs in the colder and darker months.
This month and next, we are running key stakeholder feedback surveys. We want to hear your feedback on how we engage with you on low-voltage connections for distributed generation, and look out for our upcoming stakeholder engagement satisfaction survey from the 3rd of November. Your valuable feedback will provide key insights on how we can engage with you in future. And we look forward to seeing some of you are our and our bi-annual DSO Conference event in Penrith on 29th October.
Also this month, our partner, the UK Business Climate Hub has released its findings from the Business Climate Census, showing how UK businesses are progressing towards their climate goals, and we're proud to showcase our £56m capital investment project to refurbish key assets along the Cumbria Ring. Finally, we're announcing our upcoming QUEST Innovation event coming up in December. This is a fantastic opportunity to see how voltage control on the network can lead to better implementation of low-carbon technologies for consumers. Register in the link below!

Have your say! Help shape the future of our engagement |
We’re launching our annual stakeholder survey on Monday, 3rd November 2025, and we want to hear from you! Whether we connect with you regularly or only occasionally, your voice matters. This is your opportunity to help us make our engagement more meaningful, inclusive, and mutually beneficial. Your feedback plays a vital role in helping us identify areas for improvement, manage risks, and deliver even greater value to you—our valued customers and stakeholders. Previous input has helped us to provide additional support for local authority and connections engagement.
The survey will be conducted by our independent research partner, Feedback Research, who will reach out to you directly. You’ll be able to participate online or by phone at a time that suits you. It only takes about 15 minutes to complete, and as a thank you, we’ll make a £5 donation to a charity of your choice from a list provided at the end of the survey. 🗓 Survey open: 3rd November – 12th December 2025 Your insights are essential to shaping how we work with you in the future. Thank you in advance for taking the time to share your thoughts. |

Respond to our Distributed Generation - Low Voltage survey |
We want to hear from customers and stakeholders who engage with us on distributed generation low voltage connections work, so we can deliver value added engagement.
With increasing electrification there will be a large increase in the number of new low-voltage connections on our network. SP ENW is committed to ensuring that we work closely with customers and stakeholders to deliver a positive experience for those looking to connect to the low-voltage network.
Our survey results will help inform our engagement strategy to deliver the best outcome for customers. Respond by 23:59 on 31 October, via this link. |

Register for the QUEST Event in Manchester - 12 December |
Register now for our upcoming QUEST Face to face engagement event in Central Manchester on the 12th of December 2025. The QUEST Project aims to coordinate several discrete control systems used on the distribution network to manage voltage fluctuations. The system will enable more connections on the network and facilitate low-carbon technologies and energy reduction techniques for customers. Our event will showcase our learnings as this project comes to a close.
We look forward to seeing you there! Find out more about QUEST. |

£56m Capital investment along Cumbria Ring, six-figure investments in Whitehaven. |
We're committed to ensuring our network remains reliable and resilient across the North West. Our £56m investment programme in Cumbria will refurbish and install new conductors along our 132kV transmission towers from Sellafield to Roosecote. This will significantly enhance the reliability and resilience of Cumbria’s electricity network. The investment programme is part of the Cumbria Ring project and the expansion of Cumbria's infrastructure will enable customers to connect to low carbon technologies such as electric vehicle chargers, solar panels and heat pumps. Check out our webpage and video on this project.
Thousands of homes, businesses and tourists will benefit from the new electricity infrastructure across all of Cumbria and help Cumbria achieve its net zero targets and support economic growth, local economy and sourcing materials locally where viable.
We're also proud to announce a £240,000 investment in Whitehaven, to install 800 metres worth of underground cables in the area. These cables enable engineers to reinstate power more quickly if a power cut occurs. The Scilly Banks and Moresby Park areas currently feature predominantly overhead wires; new underground wires will increase the reliability and resilience of the network in a part of the network that is susceptible to high winds.

Thank you for your patience and support with Storm Amy earlier this month |
Our engineers and wider support teams responded to the first named storm of the season, Storm Amy, earlier this month. Over 13,000 properties were affected for more than three minutes, and our customer call centre handled over 2,000 enquiries. The storm is a timely reminder as we head into the winter season to keep in mind how to stay safe in a power cut. If you need real-time updates on power cuts, or to report an outage in your area, remember to call the 24/7 helpline:105. Visit our Extra Care page to learn about how we can provide extra support, and to join our Extra Care register.
