Scunthorpe Town Centre Regeneration

£3.85m of Single Local Growth Fund via Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership has been invested into Scunthorpe's town centre to aid in the first phase of the transformational £60m plus investment by 2022. North Lincolnshire Council is working to transform Scunthorpe Town Centre to create a vibrant and thriving place where people want to live, work, study, invest, visit and spend their leisure time with the recent developments of:
  • ONGO Headquarters
  • Engineering University Technical College (UTC) Northern Lincolnshire
  • Church Square House extension
  • St John’s Market
  • Refurbishment of Scunthorpe Central
  • Improvements to our Highways Infrastructure
We are also pleased to announce that Interserve have won the "Project of the Year 2019" award from Constructing Excellence Yorkshire and Humber for their work on the St. John’s Market project. We would like to thank Interserve for all of their hard work and also the judging panel, who recognised the significance and success of this project; along with the positive and sustainable impact it has had on the town centre

Scunthorpe Town Centre Masterplan 2019-2029

The emerging Scunthorpe Town Centre Masterplan is due to be released later this year, with aims to build on the success of the first phase of the £60m plus investment into the regeneration of town centre, developing transformational change to create a high quality location. Delivering a vision of how the town centre could evolve over the next ten years to create a centre for learning, living, leisure and business.

University Campus North Lincolnshire

The University Campus North Lincolnshire initiative aims to deliver 1,500 university-level places within Scunthorpe, and will play a key role in meeting the skills requirements of North Lincolnshire industry in order to promote the region’s continuing economic development.

The first phase of the initiative will see North Lindsey College, part of DN Colleges Group, move its existing undergraduate programmes to the Civic Centre building in Scunthorpe, creating a university Campus for the Town. Opening in September 2019, the Campus will offer a range of courses designed to offer the skills and qualifications that local employers require to enable business growth and innovation.

Courses include higher level management and leadership qualification, as well as more technical qualifications in a range of fields.

Funding for Business
Humber High Street Challenge Fund:

North Lincolnshire Council recently received a share of investment funding from the Humber LEP to support the regeneration of Scunthorpe Town Centre.

The Humber High Street Challenge Fund will encourage private sector landlords and property owners to undertake building and conversion projects that will improve high streets, diversifying the traditional high street offer and bringing unused floor space back into use.
